The star staff of this week is the Spanish teacher Senora Dively. She was only here for three weeks, and she was a good Spanish teacher. Her last day of teaching here in Altoona is on January 15. All of her students are sad about her leaving and so is she.

“Very sad because I started to love my students and because I know you will have fun with the new teacher coming in and because I’m not going to see you guys,”  Senora Dively said.

All of her students took a big step in Spanish as she has stepped in, in the middle of the year. Her students all learned much more about the language. She is from Colombia, so she knows Spanish well. In her home country, she tells the students that it is very different from there to here. She also explains how it was a different mindset of teaching in different schools.

“We do not have public schools, only private. Your education is based on how much money you have. We also have boys and girls in different schools. There are also many more students in Altoona,”  Dively said.

She tells all her classes how much she loves teaching in Altoona and how she doesn’t want to leave to teach somewhere else. Her experience here was a good time and with good students she said.

“My experience here was very good because coming out in the middle of the school year, I thought it was going to be very difficult but no. All my students are very smart and know more than I thought they would know about Spanish, “ Dively said.

All teachers have expectations for their students.

“I hope they all learn from me, how to introduce themselves in Espanol and to be able to start early,” Dively said.
