Strings perform holiday concert

Sounds Great! Director of lights and sound J. Hamel played a huge part in the holiday orchestra concert. J. Hamel is a very important member of the music department, he does light and sound for all the concerts.
On Dec. 13 the orchestra performed their annual holiday concert. Several groups performed at this concert such as the string quartet, chamber orchestra, ninth grade orchestra, eighth grade orchestra and symphonic orchestra. The concert took work from not only the many students involved but also the orchestra director, Kelly Detwiler, as well as parents and the music parents’ association.

Happy Holidays! String quartet member Michelle grill played the violin in the 2016 Altoona holiday orchestra concert. Michelle is also a member of the chamber orchestra, ninth grade orchestra and the symphonic orchestra.

Brrrrr! The chamber orchestra performed Music From FROZEN at the holiday concert. The crowd was delighted with the level of skill the orchestra demonstrated.

Well done! Both the eighth and ninth grade orchestras performed at the 2016 Holiday Orchestra Concert. The two orchestras combined to perform “All Is Well” by Michael W. Smith & Wayne Kirkpatrick.

Wow! The symphonic orchestra performed “Ukrainian Bell Carol” arranged by James Ployhar at the 2016 holiday orchestra concert. The symphonic orchestra is not only made up of string instruments, there are also instruments found in the band such as the drums, the trombone and the flute.

they are a great group to be with. I was with them last year and they play amazingly
