9/21/23:The Junior Lady Lions were back in action yesterday at Roosevelt Field against the Conemaugh Township Indians. Despite controlling the ball from the starting whistle, it seemed as if the teams were going to enter halftime with a zero-zero tie. It wasn’t until the pinball wizard, Maura Farabaugh, found the back of the net amongst the chaos of the six yard box with 25 seconds left in the half. The majority of the ball possession was held in the midfield by the rotating crew of Natalie Bumbarger, Maura Farabaugh, Evie Irwin, Jenna Zeak, Mikayla Patterson, Leah Nedimyer, and Lilly Wisor. At the 16:26 mark of the second half, Altoona broke through the Conemaugh Township’s defensive line. Layla McCarter took aim at goal, but passed the shot off to Evie Irwin, who in turn passed off to Elsie Behe who made the second and final goal of the game. The Junior Lady Lions emerged the victors with a score of 2-0 as time expired. The girls improved their record to 4-1-1. Best of luck to the girls today as they take their show on the road to Park Forest for a rematch from last week that ended in a tie.
9/21/23:The boys and girls Junior high cross-country teams traveled to Lilly War Memorial Park to take on Central Cambria and Bedford.
Ben Mckee led the way for the boys, followed closely by Micah Claar and Evan Getty.
On the girls side Emma Etters, Lucy Nagle and Evie Broadrick led the way.
Congratulations runners!!!
