Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, who is the Rogue One team?

The eighth Star Wars movie will hit theaters today.

Rogue One will take place before Episode IV: A New Hope. Star Wars fans can only hope this new story will be as good as Episode VII: The Force Awakens. The biggest question is, how will the writers incorporate the new characters in with the original characters from the previous movies? There are many theories circling about this mysterious new cast, but two seem to really stand out.

The biggest theory is that the main character, Jyn, is Rey’s mother. Rey made her first appearance in Episode VII: The Force Awakens, with a mysterious history on her missing parents. There’s not much evidence to support this theory. The only proof is they both have British accents, and are pale brunettes, which is how a lot of the female characters in the Star Wars series look to be honest.

The second theory is the Rogue One cast are the Knights of Ren. It goes that the rebels of the Rogue One team were captured and tortured by the Dark Side when they went to steal the plans for the Death Star. The trailers for Rogue One show fans should be concerned about the protagonist turning to the Dark Side. One clip shows Jyn with an imperial symbol on her shoulder. The other proof for this theory is from the book The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There are drawings of the five Knights of Ren, who resemble the Rogue One team greatly, one of them even called “The Rogue”.

The second theory is much more believable than the first. From the given theories, is seems that the Knights of Ren are the former Rogue One team, but there are still many theories as to who this team is and where they came from. Head to theaters today to see the movie.
