Last Sunday the Sprint Cup drivers were at Kansas Speedway where they raced the STP 400. This track was newly paved last summer for the fall race last year. In this race, the drivers had to deal with the wind gusts shifting the car around in the beginning of the race. In the first couple laps Kyle Busch’s car got loose. Joey Logano thought that Busch’s car was staying up at the top of the wall. In the end they were both out of the race, and they still had the whole race to race.
The winner of the STP 400 was Matt Kenseth with his second win of the season. The points leader Jimmie Johnson still has a strong lead in points with 37 points ahead of his teammate Kasey Kahne followed by Brad Keselowski in third place. Johnson did not have a good starting position for the race. He started back in 21 position and came out with a third place finish.
In the final laps of the race Kenseth held off the Kahne for the win. The end of the race was fun to watch because Kahne was catching up to Kenseth. The next race is this Saturday at Richmond for the first night race on a short track. The race is on FOX at seven p.m.
