This week’s pet is a dog. Her name is Gracie, and she is a Springer Spaniel Standard Poodle mix (Springerdoodle). Her owner is eighth grader Rhiannon Stangl.
Springerdoodles make good family dogs. They get along well with children. They also get along with other dogs because they are social. They also make good dogs to keep watch on the household.
“We got Gracie because my dad has to leave for a while,” Stangl said.
Springerdoodles also are athletic. They are good for active families that can exercise the dog and also anyone that can give them attention.
“The funniest thing that Gracie does is back flips,” Stangl said.
They are also curious dogs. The Springer Spaniel is a hunting dog, so the Springerdoodle has hunting characteristics in it. That’s where the curiosity comes from.
“Gracie has run away before, we found her down the street,” Stangl said.
This breed of dog doesn’t shed, but they need brushed. They also need to be groomed regularly. They don’t suffer from any genetic diseases, but the Poodle part of the dog can suffer from eye problems. The average life expectancy for a Springerdoodle is 10-13 years.
“We’ve only had Gracie for a month and a half,” Stangl said.
Springerdoodles are great a great choice of dog to get if someone has a family. They are loyal and undemanding.
