The drama club sets out to perform The Wizard of Oz.
For the past two months, the cast, crew and directors have been hard at work practicing to present the Wizard of Oz. The Wizard of Oz is a classic story about a little girl named Dorothy played by eighth grader Charlotte White who gets lost in a tornado and arrives at Oz. To get back home, she goes on a journey to meet the Wizard of Oz played by eighth grader Dominic Sparacino and on her way she meets a scarecrow played by eighth grader Hannah Doehrer, a tin man played by eighth grader Lila Eamigh and a cowardly lion played by seventh grader Andrew Leeper.
Many productions of the Wizard of Oz have been done before and many of them were musicals. This version differs by presenting a straight play with no songs at all.
Sixth grade social studies teacher and director Stacy Palilla said, “The way our drama club functions here at the school is we do a straight play in the fall and a musical in the spring. We do this because many kids have band practice and participate in fall sports, so we don’t have a chance to have our full drama club available. Also, the musical in the spring always takes more dedication, so new members can sort of test it out to see how they do during the play.”
If you still aren’t sure if you want to come, listen to why you should from Dorthy played by White, “All of the cast and crew has been working very hard to put this production on so coming out would support us all a lot!”
Doors will open a half an hour before the show and tickets will be sold at the door.

As Some one who is a munchkin in the show, practicing was fun! Even though we have long rehearsals but we take our time to practice our parts. My favorite part gotta be when Dorothy arrives at Oz. Glinda, followed by us, the munchkins are very positive! LOVE gives to all the crew that helped us to.
