The new Butterball Cook from Frozen Premium Whole Turkey sure does look appealing. You don’t need to do anything that you do with a normal turkey. According to Butterball.com, there’s no thawing or brining needed. But does that take away the tradition of making a turkey? Does it make Thanksgiving prep less enjoyable or more efficient for people without the time to cook a normal turkey?
Megan Keener said, “I think turkey is turkey. As long as it is delicious, it doesn’t matter how it is cooked.”
Yes, it’s not the traditional way of cooking a turkey, but it’s quick and efficient.
Keener said, “I think I would be more interested in using a quick turkey, especially if less prep was needed.”
If people bought this quick turkey wouldn’t people miss out on fond memories of cooking normal turkeys?
Keener said, “People would miss out on the smell of turkey cooking from the early hours while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.”
According to www.butterball.com, all you have to do is preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, remove the turkey from the bag, place it in a 3’’ deep pan with the breast side on rack or coil. Roast until fully cooked, roasting time will vary by oven. After 4 hours, loosely tent the breast with foil to avoid overcooking. It will be done when the inside of the turkey reaches 170 degrees Fahrenheit in the breast and the thigh. Be careful of hot juices.
If you don’t want too much work to do this Thanksgiving buy the Butterball Cook from Frozen Premium Whole Turkey, but if you like the traditional way of cooking turkeys, buy a normal turkey.
