With Thanksgiving coming up, everyone may need to be ready to cook an amazing meal for people to enjoy.
The turkey is probably one of the most time consuming dishes, taking hours just to cook.
“The turkey is a classic dish. It is my favorite part of thanksgiving!” said eighth grader Carson Despot.
Before cooking the turkey, consumers will have to find one.
While at the store, the size of the turkey needs to be picked. A good size to pick for a turkey is 10-12 pounds. If there are 15 or more people at the feast, then think of getting 2 turkeys.
To cook the turkey, you have to first season the turkey with salt and pepper and brush with butter. Then, roast the turkey at 350 degrees fahrenheit. The cooking time depends on the size of the turkey. If you have around 12 pounds, then cook for about 3 hours.
Next up is mashed potatoes, a signature for a thanksgiving meal. The only necessary ingredients are potatoes, milk and butter.
First, you have to skin the potatoes and boil them till they are soft. This will help the next step of mashing the potatoes, hence the name. Then, you heat the potatoes up, add butter and milk and mix.
For a small touch that will add flavor to the meal, gravy. Brown gravy is very popular for thanksgiving. It is typically broth based.
All sorts of gravy can be found at the store, with the only action needed to cook it is heating it up.
To round off the feast is the pumpkin pie. A tasty treat all can enjoy after eating the delicious main course.
The ingredients include pie crust, pumpkin puree, eggs, and milk. All you have to do to cook is mix all the ingredients and bake at 400 degrees fahrenheit until the crust is hard and middle is firm.
