For 30 years, eighth grade science teacher Barbara Mackereth has been at the junior high level.
“I am very fortunate to have had the ability to work doing something I love. Teaching science to my students, getting to watch their curiosity grow and they, themselves, mature into wonderful people, has brought me great satisfaction over the years. Of course, it is more than that,” said Mackereth.
Persevering is also very important to a job. It keeps you going when things change or get hard.
“The environment in which I teach is filled with world class colleagues. They are like a family to me that has changed and grown like any family. I am not sure how many others in their professions can say the same. I have been blessed,” Mackereth said.
Mackereth also said never stop learning.
“I promise you, if you get to know your students in this setting, you will learn as much from them as they will from you! It’s worth the effort,” said Mackereth.
Advice is very important when it comes to being new to something.
