The end of the second marking period is on the horizon, and eighth grade American cultures student teacher Olivia Snyder and eighth grade American cultures teacher Elizabeth Bronson had a great idea for a project.
They came up with the idea of making “shoebox parade floats” themed after historical topics that are being taught in class.
Students had the choice of eight topics: The French and Indian War, The Sugar Act, The Stamp Act, The creation of the Sons of Liberty, The Boston Tea Party, The signing of the Declaration of Independence, The Battle of Long Island or Washington crossing the Delaware River.
Students were instructed to use items from home to create the floats. They would also then give a presentation explaining their project Snyder said.
Snyder said, “I like that you guys get to be creative.”
This project was truly unlike any other!
Eighth grade student Dylan Hawksworth said, “It’s a good project, and a great way to get people to be creative.”
