The 2024 football season has come to an end. Both seventh and eighth grade teams finished undefeated this season. The eighth graders went 9-0 and the seventh grade went 7-0.
Eighth grade quarterback Dominic Picciotti said, “I think the record stood out. We went undefeated.”
Week after week no matter who they faced the eighth grade Mountain Lions were persistent in winning.
Eighth grade running back Vincent Nedimeyer said, “That trying not to mess around and learn as much as possible helped them with their success.”
This team’s schedule was more diverse meaning they played less games of the same opponent.
Picciotti said,” I think we had better teamwork.”
Teamwork is a big part of football and when a team is able to work together efficiently you get results. In this case, the results of their teamwork was an undefeated season.
After a long, yet rewarding season, Nedimyer said his favorite part was after the last game when they all just celebrated.
It was a truly remarkable season and as they head on to the high school next year they are big things in store for Mountain Lion Football team.
This now eighth grade group went undefeated last year in seventh grade as well. That trend continues this year as once again the seventh grade Lions have gone undefeated just with a new group of players.
Seventh grade team head coach Joshua Shultz said, “Every week is different, you may play the same opponent but the situations different.”
This mindset of the team to treat every game the same way really attributed to their success. Many other things also helped this team win, such as the players themselves.
Shultz said, “Guys like Nysir Shields, Colt Sipes were a standout for us.”
Every team has challenges that they face no matter what the record was.
Shultz said, “Traveling to games for younger kids, especially junior high kids is a bit of a challenge.”
Despite these challenges both teams were able to have a dominant season.
As these teams move on further up the grades, we will wait to see if they can have the same success we saw this season.
