The Veterans Day collection check was presented on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The Veterans Day collection is an annual collection to help support the veterans of our country.
Eighth grade English teacher John Garlick said, “Veterans do get a say in how the money is used.”
Most people don’t think about the lone veterans during the holidays, so this is something we can do to help support them said Garlick.
“This year we’ve raised the most we ever have!” said Garlick.
The Veterans Day collection has been slowly raising more money each year. This year the school raised exactly $5276.55 to send to a local Holidaysburg Veterans’ Home. The money raised isn’t just limited for use during the holidays. It can be used to directly support veterans with things like welfare.
Garlick said he likes to see the school being so caring.
“I’m just happy to see that the staff and students of Altoona care about others during the holidays,” said Garlick.
May we wish these veterans a Merry Christmas!
