“Miracle,” a movie about the 1980 USA Olympics team, is one of the best hockey movies of all time.
The PG movie is non-fiction and pretty accurate to the real event. It covers everything from the tryouts of the USA Olympic team to them defeating the reigning champions, the Soviet Union. This is a well known moment in hockey being known as the miracle on ice, which inspired the title “Miracle” for the movie. Team USA winning gold is an inspiration to many.
The movie is very descriptive with the lives of the hockey players on team USA. This is one of the things I love about it. All the tiny details of the players makes you feel connected to the game.
Also, “Miracle” is a big underdog story, which are my favorite. The movie depicts early in the season team USA being defeated by the Soviets in a blowout. It seemed like they had no chance to win gold in the Olympics later that year, but they ended up winning 4-3 defeating the Soviets and went on to win gold for the United States.
Overall, “Miracle” is a great underdog story which details the triumph of the 1980 Team USA against the raining Soviets.
