Mrs. Smith’s class is hoping to spread kindness by giving back to the community this Spring! They will be collecting items for the Teen Shelter during the first two weeks of April. Open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, the Teen Shelter is a safe place for children ages 12-17. Although they provide shelter for young individuals needing a place to stay, the Teen Center is more than just a shelter. The Teen Center is also for young people trying to find a safe place to spend a few hours. Teens can drop in after school, get help with their homework, stay for dinner, play games, and participate in nightly group discussion dealing with issues pertaining to their age group. From March 31st until April 11th, please join Mrs. Smith’s class in spreading kindness. They will be collecting snacks, bottled water, and hygiene products. Collections will take place during LIM classes. The winning class in each grade will receive an ice cream treat. Help to spread kindness this Spring!
The junior high boys’ track team had their opponent, Punxsutawney, wishing Phil had predicted 12 more weeks of winter, so they could have avoided having their pelt hung on the Mt. Lion’s mantle by a score of 117-33.
The conditions were very difficult, but your Mt Lions’ came to hunt! We had 8 individual winners.
Athletes whose performances qualified him for the Middle School Championship are:
Zahyr O’Neal 100 meter dash
Khyaire Hall 300 hurdles
Khyaire Hall High Jump
Patrick Port Javelin
The Mt. Lion, who hunted the wood-chucks unmercifully, was Khyaire Hall. He won the: 110 meter high hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, the long jump, and anchored the, 1st place, 4 by 400 meter relay.
Your Mt Lions will prove whose pride is stronger on Monday, March 31st as it competes for Mansion Park territory against the wildcats of Central Mountain.
Congratulations to the girls Track and Field team on their victory against Punxsutawney yesterday. The girls were back in action on Monday at Mansion Park against Central Mountain.
