Mrs. Smith’s class is hoping to spread kindness by giving back to the community this Spring! They will be collecting items for the Teen Shelter during the first two weeks of April. Open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, the Teen Shelter is a safe place for children ages 12-17. Although they provide shelter for young individuals needing a place to stay, the Teen Center is more than just a shelter. The Teen Center is also for young people trying to find a safe place to spend a few hours. Teens can drop in after school, get help with their homework, stay for dinner, play games, and participate in nightly group discussion dealing with issues pertaining to their age group. From March 31st until April 11th, please join Mrs. Smith’s class in spreading kindness. They will be collecting snacks, bottled water, and hygiene products. Collections will take place during LIM classes. The winning class in each grade will receive an ice cream treat. Help to spread kindness this Spring!
Have you played the 24 Game? There is a 24 Challenge competition in May! Are you interested in going? The junior high can send 5 competitors to the 24 challenge competition at St. Francis on May 16. If you are interested, please come to the Mathcounts meeting Monday (3-31) after school in C275. Please email Mrs. Abbott or stop by to see her for details.
A special shout out goes to Hunter Marris. Hunter demonstrated great character and leadership this week. He found a very valuable item that someone had lost and he made sure that it was returned to the proper owner. A true measure of character is what you do and how you act when no one is watching. Thank you Hunter for being such an upstanding young man!! Hopefully others will follow your lead.
