Two local sixth and seventh graders recently made their school proud by earning top spots in the state championship!
Seventh grader Colt Sipes took home second place, showcasing incredible skill and determination throughout the competition. With hard work and a positive attitude, Sipes made it to the finals, where they narrowly missed first place.
Every wrestler has a mindsset.
Sipes said, “I wrestle hard and let it fly when I’m competing.”
Hydration is key for the best performance on and off the competition.
Sipes said, “I drink lots of fluids and take a snack called honey stingers.”
Not far behind, sixth grader Nate Picciotti earned third place in the same event, proving his dedication and talent. Picciotti strong performance was a highlight of the championship, and he were thrilled to stand on the podium with their opponents.

The opponents were tough but that didn’t stop Picciotti.
Picciotti said, “It was a good tournament, and I had a lot of competitive people.”
Players need good defense and offense when wrestling.
“I could have had a better offense,” said Picciotti.
Both students have been practicing for months and are excited to return to the competition next year with even bigger goals. Their achievements bring pride to their school and inspire others to keep pushing toward their dreams.
Congratulations to both students for representing our community at the state level!
