Attention students – Only clear water bottles are permitted to be brought into school. Students are not permitted to bring any bottles that are not completely clear. No Stanley cups or large non-clear containers are permitted and will be confiscated.
The Altoona Area Lady Lions delivered a strong all-around performance in their recent track and field meet against the State College Little Lions, earning top finishes across a wide range of events.
In the field events, Altoona showed dominance, especially in the throws. The Lady Lions swept the discus, with Callie Ingham taking 1st, Emerson Clauss in 2nd, and Alyson Farabaugh rounding it out in 3rd. Ingham and Farabaugh also picked up points in the javelin, placing 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the shot put, Clauss claimed 2nd while Ingham added another 3rd-place finish. In the triple jump, Leah Connery took 2nd and Katie Hostler came in 3rd, while Leah Connoly grabbed 3rd in the high jump.
On the track, Evie Broadrick led the distance crew, winning the 3200 meter run with Rowan Resig taking 2nd. Resig also added a 3rd place in the 1600 meter run. In the 800 meter, Maura Farabaugh placed 2nd and Everly Nixon came in 3rd. Karma Lopez Oakes contributed with a 3rd-place finish in the 400 meter run.
The Lady Lions dominated the hurdle events. Mikayla Patterson swept both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, taking 1st in each. In the 100 hurdles, Morgan Irwin and Jaycee Rossman followed in 2nd and 3rd, giving Altoona a clean sweep. Rossman also took 2nd in the 300 hurdles, rounding out a strong showing for Altoona in those races.
Overall, the Lady Lions put together an impressive team effort with key contributions in nearly every event, highlighting the depth and talent of the squad.
The Junior High Boys’ Track and Field team competed tough and had many great performances but came up short against State College yesterday by a score of 88-53. The Mt. Lion’s earning first places were:
Khyaire Hall in the 300 Hurdles & the Triple Jump
Hayzen Island-burger in the 110 High Hurdles
Tristan Camper in the 400M Dash and the 200M Dash. Tristan’s time in the 200 qualified him for the Middle School Championships.
And the 4×400 meter relay Team. Team members include: Tristan Camper, Carson Despot, Zyaire O’Neal and Khyaire Hall).
The Mt. Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Clearfield to compete in the Bison Invitational. Good Luck and Go Mt. Lions.
