At dismissal, bus riders should exit the building and board the bus immediately. Once you are on the bus, you are not permitted to exit the bus until your designated bus stop. Students who exit the bus prior to the bus stop will not be permitted back on the bus.
Attention all students who have completed their assignments for the NASA/MMPACCT presentation. Please stop by Mr. Hatch’s room 247 to collect paperwork for the field trip to Goddard Space Center. These Forms must be returned by Friday. Please stop by immediately after PSSA Science is completed and you are released to go to class.
The AAJHS Lady Lions track and field team faced off against Saint Mary’s, Penns Valley, Tyrone, and Bishop Guilfoyle—and crushed the competition with dominant performances across the board.
On the track, Claire Betar sprinted to a 2nd place finish in both the 100 and 200 meter dash, with Hailey Camberg right behind her, taking 3rd in both events. Mikayla Patterson claimed 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles and 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles, while Jaycee Rossman followed up with a 3rd place finish in the 300 hurdles.
In the 400 meter run, Everly Nixon raced to 1st place, with Maura Farabaugh taking 2nd. Emma Etters swept the distance races, earning 1st place in both the 800 and 1600 meter runs. Maura Farabaugh also finished 2nd in the 800, and Evie Broaderick claimed 2nd in the 1600. In the 3200 meter run, Raya Potts delivered an impressive performance, finishing 1st.
The relay teams were unstoppable. The 4×100 A team of Nina Dunio, Karma Lopez-Oakes, Hailey Camberg, and Claire Betar secured 1st place, while the B team of Haleigh Fisher, Brianna Lardieri, Gianna Campbell, and Kassidi Glunt finished 2nd. In the 4×400 relay, the A team of Everly Nixon, Maura Farabaugh, Hailey Camberg, and Karma Lopez-Oakes took 1st, and the B team of Emma Etters, Claire Betar, Layla McCarter, and Jaycee Rossman earned 2nd. The 4×800 A team, featuring Emma Etters, Everly Nixon, Raya Potts, and Chloe Jones, also came in 1st place. The B team of Cora Jones, Evie Broaderick, Evie Irwin, and Rowyn Resig followed closely behind with a strong 2nd place finish.
In field events, Callie Ingham led the throws with a 1st place finish in javelin, and 2nd place in both discus and shot put. Emerson Claus also placed 3rd in javelin. In the jumps, Raya Potts won both the long jump and triple jump, while Haleigh Fischer took 3rd in long jump. Addison Harding and Ava Lardieri rounded out the triple jump podium with 2nd and 3rd place finishes, respectively. In high jump, Gabby Gutshall and Leah Connolly tied for 2nd place.
To top it off, in the pole vault, Evie Irwin claimed 1st place, while Kaelynn Murtiff and Gabby Gutshall tied for 2nd.
It was a phenomenal showing by the Lady Lions, and their teamwork, determination, and talent were on full display. Congratulations to all our athletes for their outstanding performances!
There was a track and field showdown yesterday at Mansion Park, and your Altoona Boys’ Track Team came ready for battle. Facing off against four worthy opponents, the Mt. Lions dominated the dojo —Cosmo Kramer style—and walked away undefeated, winning all four matchups!
This dominant sweep boosts the Mt. Lions’ record to an impressive 8-2. From the opening events, the team showed their teeth and never let up, laying down the law with intensity and precision.
