In yesterday’s first ever Maroon vs White baseball game, the Maroon team came out on top in both games of a double header at Seitz field.
In game one, Vince Nedimeyer, Wes Zitsch and Brandt Hite had 2 hits apiece and Hite, Shane Gority and Z O’Neil had 2 RBIs each to lead the offense. Braiden Touchton and Alex Woodring locked into a pitchers duel for a majority of the game until the Maroon team finally broke through for 4 runs in the 4th inning. The White team made a comeback attempt with Thomas Kessinger’s 2 RBI double in the 5th but it wasn’t enough as the Maroon team picked up a 9-6 victory.
In game 2, Lucas Hoyer and Brendan Cobler had 2 hits apiece for Maroon in a 5-3 victory. Once again the white team threatened to tie the game in the 5th inning, but couldn’t get the big hit. The play of the game was Ryan Daniel’s diving catch in center to save the inning for the White team.
Both teams are back in action tomorrow.
