-News on the hottest gaming trends
As many gamers know, this holiday season is a big one. Sony and Microsoft released the next generation consoles, the PS4 and XBOX One. Even though the two competitors have released hardware prodigies, it is hard to recommend either hardware as the number one item to buy this holiday season. The number one console to buy this holiday season is neither the 3DS or PS Vita.
The recommendation is none other than the Wii U. Granted the console may be a year old and may not have graphics as stellar as the other consoles, but graphics have never been what has led Nintendo to success. It is, in fact, the asymmetric games that lead the company to success. While the PS4 and XBOX One have little to offer, the Wii U has had a year to produce wonderful titles and improve upon them.

Most PS4 and XBOX One games are little more than higher graphic ports of last-gen games, though Wii U has lots of current-gen greatly acclaimed games to offer. LEGO City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker HD and Super Mario 3D World are all great exclusives that can only be found on Wii U. Ports of games such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution- Director’s Cut and Need for Speed Rivals U are great examples of wonderful ports from other consoles that have more to offer than on their other platforms. Games like Skylander Swap Force, Runner 2 Future of Rhythm Alien and Rayman Legends are all games found on other platforms but shine triumphantly more on Wii U.

The final reason Wii U should top the Christmas list this season is for all the upcoming games lingering in the near future. Exclusive games such as Wii Fit U, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, X, Super Smash Bros. U and a brand new untitled Zelda game are seen to be released early next year. Also, games like Watch_Dogs and other multiplatform titles will storm onto the Wii U sometime next year.
