Last weekend on Saturday the seventeenth the marching band, jazz band, chorus and orchestra went to New Jersey to compete at Adjudication. All the groups did extremely well performing. Then everyone that went on the trip enjoyed a day at Six Flags. This trip was a ton of fun and a total success.
Each group gets scored by a group of judges ranging from two to four people. Each group is scored by different ratings. The ratings starting from the lowest score to the highest score are poor, fair, good, excellent, and superior. As a whole Altoona did amazing. As individuals the jazz band, chorus and marching band scored a superior. The orchestra got high excellent which is a really good score. All the groups got first place in each of their specific categories.
After each of the groups performed, they went to Six Flags. Some of the main attractions at the park are The Superman, The Batman and The Green Lantern.
There were also many different types of games that students enjoyed. Some of which are basketball games and with that game people had a chance to win capes of different superheros and basketballs. Another game was a laser maze game. If someone were to break a laser they would lose points. With those points the students could turn them into tickets at the arcade.
After playing the games and riding the rides there was an awards ceremony. The awards ceremony was held at a place near The Batman ride. That is where we found out how well we did. After that you could have dinner at different restaurants. Some of the restaurants the students could’ve chose from are the Panda Express and Johnny Rockets.
The groups then left the park around 9 p.m. and didn’t get home until 2:30 a.m the next day. The kids that went on the trip did extremely well while on the trip. Adjudication was a success.
