The conditions this week have been great and this weekend Blue Knob will be having a big air/slope style mountain challenge. The big air and slope style contest will be held at the terrain park. The terrain park starts off with a jump and a downward rail. It then moves onto a jump with a gap or skiers can hit a flat rail. The gap is good for 360’s because it gives you some airtime but not a lot of it. Then the ending is either a box rail, a big air jump or an upward pipe. The big air jump is not as big as most big air jumps but it is possible to do advanced tricks on it like back flips and tricks like that. The upward pipe is almost like a jump but you have to ride the pipe to get into the air. The terrain park is not as good as some other snowboard parks but it is a good place to learn tricks. Many people that are experience learn more challenging tricks there also. The terrain park is considered and an advanced trail. The contest is mainly for amateur snowboarders I really don’t think any pros are going to be at the contest. The way the snow has been coming down the competition should turn out great. I have never been to a big air/slope style contest but hopefully one day I can compete in one.
