COVID-19 restrictions caused a shut down of all of Pennsylvania scholastic, winter sports. Players and coaches stay in shape through virtual workouts and training hard on their own time.

Governor Wolf strongly recommended that K-12 scholastic, winter sports postpone activities, practices and games until at least January 1, 2021, due to the rising Covid 19 cases. The governor along with the PA Department of Health advised this recommendation.

Altoona Area Junior High girls basketball coach, Erika Bailor, says, “I feel that as far as safety measures I completely understand, but on the other hand, I feel the kids need some sort of interaction with their peers, and some sort of physical activity.”

Working hard to stay in touch with the girls is something coach Bailor takes very seriously.  She said, “When you’re on a team, you get the feeling that you’re part of something and that you have support and backup. Not a lot of kids are getting that at home.”
