Shhh! No need to scream in the hallways or in the classrooms, use your inside voice!

As you may know, our school decided to reintroduce the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support Committee this year, also known as “PBIS.”

The PBIS committee rewards good behavior with eBucks! Saving your eBucks allow students to earn rewards at the end of each month, such as an opportunity to spend them in the snack shop, place them in a basket raffles and more.

The committee is kicking off the third marking period with the new emoji guide “SHHHH!” (This promotes using inside voices, not shrieking or yelling). Previously we’ve had “Walker” (Promoting walking and walking on the correct side of the hallway/stairwells) and “Bubble Girl” (Don’t touch others or others’ property, keep hands to yourself and stay seated in class).

“I think behavior has a lot to do with maturity. A lot of times, the driving force with behavior is to impress or show off for friends or peers. So, if we get students to encourage friends to follow rules, behavior would be more school appropriate and safe,”  said sixth grade counselor Michele Holton.
