National Junior Honor Society hosts food drive

John Wharton, Autumn Barry-Kyle and three honor society members Marina Petucci, Hannah Owulade and Serenity Hogans all supported and helped with Mt. Lion Backpack Program.

The eighth grade honor society students and the advisors Autumn Barry-Kyle and John Wharton held a food drive to help with Mt. Lion Backpack Program. 48 members collected food this past week.

Barry-Kyle said, “All the food donated to the program provides three meals a day including a snack for the weekend to participating students in the elementary schools.”

The food drive was heldĀ  March 21-25. The donations were stored in room C272. Some of the most needed items were Knorr Rice or pasta side dishes, packs of juice or yoo-hoo, granola bars and pudding cups.

Barry-Kyle said, “She hopes that the honor society students will have a feeling of accomplishment and citizenship knowing that they are helping our community.”
