Easter baskets! My sister and I colored these eggs for Easter. I made three eggs and my sister made three eggs, which has been our tradition for the past five years. “Easter is the only time of year when it is safe to put all your eggs in one basket,” said Audrey Hepburn.

On Saturday, April 16, 2022, 10am to 3pm Lakemont will be hosting their annual Easter egg hunt for ages 10 and under. Ages are divided up into groups, 3 and under will begin at 12pm, 4-6 year olds will begin at 11:30am, and 7-10 year olds will begin their hunt at 11am. Last year Lakemont had to limit the number of kids for each age category. 250 kids were the max amount to have for the three ages.

Melanie Shildt explains the preparation it takes to make this huge event a success.

“The preparation of filling eggs starts weeks before the event as we have close to 40,000 eggs. We had volunteers from the Sheetz Fellows program at Penn State Altoona fill the majority of the eggs for us. It will take us between 2-3 hours to place the eggs in the hunt area. We also spend time prior to the event creating signage for the event,” said Shildt.

At Lakemont you can also enjoy photos with the Easter Bunny for $12, train rides with Maxter Bunny, food trucks, batting cages, mini golf and so much more. There are also prizes to win like, candy, coupons, Easter baskets, small stuffed animals, etc.

Lakemont and Central Blair Rec have teamed up together this year to put on the Easter egg hunt. “We felt that doing two separate hunts did not serve either organization or the community well. We felt that we could provide the community with a much better quality event and greater opportunities if we combined our efforts,” Melanie Shildt explained.

Lakemont park is so pleased to be hosting this event. They hope to see all of you there!
