The Daily Grind Coffee Co. recently opened restaurant in Altoona. Located at 2525 Sixth Avenue, The Daily Grind is a coffee shop and breakfast/brunch restaurant. 

According to co-owner Kurt Maidl, response since opening has been primarily positive. 

“People love it,” said Maidl. “They love the food, the love how it works, the freshness, the look of the building. A lot of people talk about how nice the staff is, too.”

Pancakes, French toast, eggs and omelets are some of the most frequently ordered foods, but Maidl said his favorite menu item is “the bowl.” The bowl contains a combination of sausages, onions, red bell peppers, mushrooms, home fries and garlic cream sauce served with eggs and toast. The average cost of a meal with a drink is about $15 per person. 

The Daily Grind is set apart from other eateries like it because of the freshness. 

“Using fresh food, using things that aren’t pre-made, nothing that’s processed in any way shape or form. Fresh vegetables, no canned stuff, no bag or boxed mixes for pancakes or french toast. Everything’s made from scratch. That’s one of the big deals,” said Maidl.
