Announcements for Monday, May 15!

(5/11-5/18) “Any 6th, 7th, or 8th-grade student interested in learning to play tennis, there will be a brief informational meeting in Room 243 on Thursday, May 18th at 1:15.”

(5/15) Attention students: This is the last week for after school homework help in room 234. Friday, May 19 will be the last day the lab will be open.

(5/15) There will be a 6th grade student council meeting today during 6th grade lunch in room C212.  Please be sure to check google classroom for more information.

(5/15)On Saturday the softball team went 2 and 1 at the Bellwood B team tournament with wins against Bellwood and Tyrone. Sophia Moran was the winning pitcher in both of the team’s wins. Madison Ball and Sophia Moran both hit doubles.

(5/15)The Altoona White Baseball Team picked up two victories Saturday over Bellwood.

In Game 1, the team tallied 11 hits. Elliot McCloskey, Justin Pfeffer, and Bentley Mellott all had multiple hits in the 5-1 victory. Elliot also pitched 6 and two-thirds innings…striking out 6.

In game 2, Lucas Morrissey, Cohen Cochran, Taeyan White, and Kaydin O’Connor all tallied a hit in the 3-1 victory.

The team finished the season with a 13-4-1 record. Great season!!!

(5/15) The girls 7th & 8th grade track team topped off their undefeated season by out-scoring 42 other teams to win the 2023 Altoona Middle School Championship on Saturday at Mansion Park.  The following athletes were place winner:

Andie Adams – 6th place in the pole vault

Lana Luke – 6th place in the 1600m run

Brionna Adams – 5th place in the 800m run

Taylor Lear – 2nd place in the high jump

Kinsley Palilla – 1st place in the discus

Ajaycia Alexander – 5th place in the 100m dash and 4th place in the 200m dash.

Ashlyn Noce – Placed 3rd in the 3200m run and 2nd in the 1600m run

Layona Williams – Placed 7th in the 300m hurdles, 5th in the triple jump, 4th in the 100m hurdles

                          4th in the long jump.

Jill Long – Took home a third place in the long jump and placed 1st in the triple jump

The team of Brionna Adams, Jill Long, Ajaycia Alexander and Ashlyn Noce placed 5th in the 1600m relay.

The team of Brionna Adams, Gianna Fiore, Lana Luke and Ashlyn Noce won the 3200m relay.

The team of Jill Long, Bailey Barron, Taylor Lear and Ajaycia Alexander won the 1600m relay.

Congratulations girls on an outstanding performance.  All members of the girls track team are reminded uniforms are to be turned in on Thursday.

(5/15)The 7th & 8th grade boys track & field team finished their season on Saturday at the Altoona middle school Championship meet by tying for Chambersburg for 2nd place with 85 points.  Williamsport won the event with 95 points.

Mehki Jackson won first place on Saturday as he captured the championship in the triple jump with a jump of 38 feets 8.5 inches.  That jump set a new 7th grade school record in the triple jump.

Seth Lieb also captured first place on Saturday by winning the pole vault with a vault of 10 feet.

Grant Weatherwalk finished 2nd in the pole vault.

Jayce Johnston took home two third place finishes in the Javelin and the Triple jump. Jayce also finished 6th in the long jump.

Nathan Wolfe finished 4th in the Pole Vault.

Ian Lieb finished 3rd in the 110 meter hurdles.  Ian also finished 4th in the 300 meter hurdles.

Alec Layton finished 4th in the 200 meter dash.

Hunter Kling finished 5th in the 300 meter hurdles.

Xander Frederick finished 8th in the 800 meter run.

The 3200 meter relay team of Seth Lieb, Chase Van Egdom, Bilal Eltayeb, and Xander Frederick finished 2nd.

The 400 meter relay team of Hunter Kling, Mehki Jackson, Alec Layton, and Trey Payne finished 4th.

The 1600 meter relay team of Bilal Eltayeb, Ian Lieb, Alec Layton, and Hunter Kling finished 6th.

Mr. Chesney and the coaching staff would like to congratulate the boys on a fantastic season.

Members of the boys track & field team are reminded to turn in their uniforms today after school in the team locker room.

(5/15-5/22) There will be a brief meeting for any boys and girls in grades 6, 7 and 8 interested in running cross-country in the fall of 2023 on Monday May 22 during 8th period in the cafeteria.

(5/15-5/17)  Due to the community service students having end of the year activities the help desk last day will be on May 17th.

(5/15) The help desk will be closed now for this school year.

(5/15) There will be an open gym today in the AAHS Fieldhouse from 4:30 PM-6:00 PM for any boy in 7th and 8th grade interested in playing basketball next year.  If you are participating in a spring sport, you are not permitted to participate.
