9/19/23:Yesterday, the Junior Lady Lions welcomed the Tyrone Golden Eagles to Roosevelt Field. Altoona quickly took flight against the Eagles when Morgan Irwin assisted Layla McCarter for the games first goal. Layla McCarter returned to the Eagle’s nest less than two minutes later for her second goal of the match. Almost twenty minutes flew by before the Lady Lions hatched two more goals by winger Morgan Irwin within a minute of one another. In the second half Altoona capitalized on a corner kick from Lilly Wisor to Maura Farabaugh that would put the girls up 5-0. The Eagles managed to swoop in for their lone goal of the game within the final two minutes of the match making the final score 5-1. The Junior Lady Lions improved their record to 3-1-1. Congratulations to the girls for earning the gold against the Eagles.

9/19/23:AAJHS Boys soccer team defeated Tyrone yesterday by a score of 2-1. Our first goal was scored by Eli Gibson who hit a striking free kick from outside the box that put our score up 1-0. Tyrone battled back strong and scored in the second half to make it a 1-1 game. With 9 minutes left, Brayden Wible’s shot ended up being the perfect pass as an assist for Eli Gibson’s second goal. The mountain lions defense held strong through the end of the game and won 2-1. Our next game is Wednesday, 3:30pm, at home against COnemaugh Township.

9/19/23:Attention all 6th, 7th and 8th grade girls coming to today’s girls basketball open gym after school… Please meet Coach Bailor in the lobby of the gym and do not leave class until the walker bell at 2:40.

 9/19/23: Attention 7th and 8th grade boys:

There will be an open gym workout for any 7th or 8th grade male student interested in playing basketball tonight at the JUNIOR HIGH GYM from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM. If you are playing a Fall sport, you are not allowed to participate.
