The Battle of Blair County took place yesterday between the Altoona Lady Lions and the Hollidaysburg Tigers at Hollidaysburg. Both teams marched onto the tufted turf ready to take aim at one another. Shot after shot was fired by Altoona’s forwards, but the target seemed to be out of range or blocked by the Hollidaysburg keeper. At the 17:36 mark of the first half, Hollidaysburg launched a missile that would find the top left of the net putting the troops in blue up 1-0. Your Lady Lions regrouped at halftime preparing for their second half counter attack. The last thirty minutes was hard fought with Altoona dominating the field. The tension in the air suggested something big was about to happen for Altoona in the final moments of the game, but time expired giving Hollidaysburg the win. The Tigers may have won yesterday’s battle, but your Lady Lions are preparing to win the war when the Tigers come to Roosevelt Field on October 12th.

Attention students:  Here is a riddle:  Light as a feather, there is nothing in it: the strongest people can’t hold it for much more than a minute.  What is this?  If you like puzzles and riddles and the 24 game, come to our Mathcounts meeting Wednesday after school from 2:45 until 3:30.  Please see Mrs. Abbott in C275 for details or email.  See Mrs.  Abbott for the answers!  (Answer:  your breath!)
