Bring out the markers! Eighth grader Ella Heverly sketches her design on her pumpkin. Heverly used smart thinking and pulled out an Expo marker so she would know where to carve. “It was fun to take a break from news writing and get into the Halloween spirit,” said Heverly.

A surprise assembly was shown at the school. Little did the students know, it was a whole performance. Eight grader Mackenzie Dickson said, I didnt expect that at all, but it was really fun.

Coffee! Coffee On 3rd in Duncansville is a cute, small business coffee shop. Coffee on 3rd is owned by a small family that lives here in Altoona and is open about their faith and sharing smiles through coffee! The founder and owner of Ashlyn Dugan said, We share faith, so I think the biggest accomplishment is one having good coffee and just being a good ground for the community!

Pretty Poppy! This is Poppy the Dachshund. She was two-years-old, and enjoyed naps, playing with toys and eating bell peppers. According to her owner Lydia Schimansky, I love Poppy so much, I couldnt have asked for a better dog!

Crazy for crepes! Located in Hollidaysburg is Allegheny Creamery & Crepes. The address is 505 Allegheny St, Hollidaysburg, Pa. I love this restaurant. It is one of my favorites. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is delicious, Charlie Kephart said.

Licari Boutique up and running! Licari is located in the Walmart Plaza and is just beginning to get its feet off of the ground. They are planning to put a sign up outside and have the public know just where to get the best aesthetic shirts, dresses and much more accessories!

Vibrant vintage! Owner Ashlie McMullin has been selling retro items since 2013. McMullin said, I really just try to sell items that I truly love and gravitate towards, which could be a t-shirt from the 90s, a 70s black light poster or 80s patches!

Hello! My name is Londyn, and I'm an eighth grade reporter. Since I was little, I have always enjoyed writing, so I'm super excited to write for Livewire this year! I love makeup/skincare, photography, going to the gym and travelling. My favorite place to travel to is New York City. When I'm older, I want to go to NYU and become an author. I have an English bulldog, a sheepadoodle, a baby turtle and two cats.
