Festive times! This Friday will be the annual Hollidaysburg Winterfest. The event will hold multiple activities. Ramsey said, “The Ice sculpting demonstration is provided by Timothy Klock and there will be live music.”

Friday, Nov. 24 the Borough of Hollidaysburg will be hosting their annual tree lighting and soup tasting at the Winterfest celebration.

There will be fun music, a soup tasting contest and fun spirits!

Organizer Melanie Ramsey gave some fun insider information on the event!

Ramsey said, “The Borough of Hollidaysburg will be making spirits bright with its annual Winterfest Parade, Soup Sampling and Light Up Night later this month.”

The event encourages many people to attend and offers a variety of activities.

“Families,  friends and neighbors are invited to attend both events. Both events are free to attend; however, soup sampling participation requires a $6 ticket per person,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey said the 29th annual Soup Sampling begins at 5 p.m. and will continue until all soup is gone. It will be  followed by the tree lighting at 7 p.m.

“Master of Ceremonies Joe Murgo will announce People’s Choice first, second and third prize awards, as well as a Mayor’s choice award as part of the evening,” Ramsey said.

Ramsey said the tree on display at the Diamond in Hollidaysburg this season is over 30-feet tall.

“It was donated by Altoona resident Mary Morris according to Hollidaysburg Shade Tree Commission Chairman Terry Wilt,” Ramsey said.

The Light Up Night and Soup Sampling will take place on Friday, Nov. 24 from 5-7 p.m.
