The annual Mathcounts Competition was held Saturday at the Altoona Campus of Penn State University. Participating were: Abdrahman (Abe) Elsadeg, Evan Getty, Diego Gil, Jaylynn Klotz, Oliver Krainer, Evan Marvich and Swayam Patel. Our students did extremely well!  The top 4 go on to states in Harrisburg. Abe Elsadeg took 9th place overall, Evan Marvich took 4th place, Oliver Krainer took 2nd place and Diego Gil took 1st place in the Blair county region.  Altoona Junior High also had the top team which also goes on to states in Harrisburg in March.  Team members are: Diego Gil, Oliver Krainer, Evan Getty and Evan Marvich.  Please congratulate these students today for their fine performance!  Fantastic job everyone!

Attention students:  Here is a math question:  Each year, Maria receives teddy bears for her birthday. For her first birthday she received 1 teddy bear. For her second birthday she received 2 teddy bears. For each following birthday, she received one teddy bear more than the previous year. How many teddy bears does Maria have in total if she is 6 years old? Please consider coming to our Mathcounts meetings Wednesdays after school.  Everyone in all grades is welcome.  Please see Mrs. Abbott for details or email her.

There’s a new after school opportunity for hands-on STEM experiments! Join Ms. Gardner in Room C258 afterschool the first Wednesday of every month – starting THIS Wednesday Feburary 7 – after school until 3:30. We will use materials to solve creative STEM problems like building the tallest tower out of pasta noodles and folding the farthest flying paper airplane. All students are welcome and encouraged to check it out. Be sure you schedule your ride to pick you up at 3:30 if you plan to stay! See Ms. Gardner in Room C258 with any questions!

Attention 8th Graders:  If you have an overdue library book, it will be marked lost on Friday, Feb 9th and become a fine on your Skyward account.  This will prevent you from being able to purchase a Fire and Ice Dance ticket.  Please return your library book asap to avoid this fine.
