The Mt. Lions took a short trek to Spring Cove yesterday where we would meet the red dragons. Game started off fast with a quick two goals by Caleb Cox and a Penalty Kick by Donato Fanelli. We hit a small wall for a little while until Mahmoud Ibrahim score our third goal of the day. The red dragons struck back fast with a laser if a free kick to the back corner of the goal. Our 4th goal came before half time from Bryce Snare on a shot from 25 yards out. The dragons would score and end the half 4-2
The beginning of the second half, Finn Black made a perfect pass to Bennett Krouse to make the score 5-2. Bryce snare out made the score out of reach by adding another goal onto his stat line making the score 6-2. The dragons tried to claw their way back but the mt lions prevailed. The final score was 6-4. The Mt. Lions are now 2-2-1 on the season and are away on Wednesday at Central Mt.
The Altoona Lady Lions went on a fearless dragon-slaying mission, vanquishing the Central Lady Dragons 3-0 in a commanding performance. Maura Farabaugh (#9) struck first, piercing the Dragons’ defenses with a precise strike at 29’15”. Not far behind, Elsie Behe (#19) found the net at 45’13” after receiving a pinpoint assist from Mykayla Patterson (#13). But the final blow came swiftly at 48’10”, when Patterson (#13) herself delivered the decisive goal, bringing down the last of the Dragons’ resistance. The Lady Lions’ defense stood like warriors, with the midfield, back line, and trio of keepers guarding the goal, ensuring the Dragons’ flames were completely extinguished for a shutout victory. Victory belongs to those who dare, and the Lady Lions slayed their way to another triumph taking their record to 3-1-1.The Altoona Lady Lions will face off against the Central Mountain Wildcats on Wednesday in a highly anticipated rematch.
