Reel Time

The movie, or movies, of the week is Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings was originally a book series written by J.R.R. Tolkien.

“Lord Of The Rings. They’re probably the first trilogy I read as a kid and J.R.R. Tolkien can make a whole new world,” Jim O’Donnell said, eighth grade English teacher, when asked what his favorite movie is.

“Gandalf because what you see is not what you get. He’s old and worn out, but he has incredible power,” said O’Donnell when asked who is favorite character is.

In the movies, Gandalf is played by Ian McKellen. McKellen is also known for his huge role as Magneto in the X-Men series.

The movies were created in 2001 by Peter Jackson. The movies, of course, were based of the infamous trilogy.

“Peter Jackson adapted the books to the movie excellently,” O’Donnell said.

The trilogy includes The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. The movie is about a young hobbit, named Frodo, whose whole life changes, adventurously and treacherously, when a strange wizard shows up at his door. All of the movies were directed by Peter Jackson.
