Editorial: Livewire endorses Hillary Clinton

The Livewire is supporting Hillary Clinton in this year’s election. Her views on education and women’s rights heavily affect the lives of students. On Tuesday, Nov. 8  AAJHS students can vote for the candidate they prefer for the school wide election and should choose Hillary Clinton.

Junior high students should be beginning to focus on the future.  The candidate who will help make this future full of promise is Clinton.

Clinton believes in everyone having an equal opportunity to get the education he or she is striving for. The more educated people there are in America the better this country will be as a whole which is why her proposal for affordable education is so appealing and sensible.

According to Clinton’s campaign website, “Only 1-quarter of all college students who are also parents will get the support they need and the resources they deserve.”

She will change this.

Clinton promises all community colleges will offer free tuition. This will open the doors to college education to everyone no matter what.  This equalizes the playing field offering opportunities for everyone regardless of economic status. Clinton also plans to improve the college system by changing the prices for college not just for the higher class but for the other financial groups.

“Let’s … make debt-free college available to everyone. … And let’s liberate the millions of Americans who already have student debt,” Clinton said.

In a Washington Post interview Clinton said, “I want everyone to be able to refinance your student loans so you never have to pay more than you can afford.”

The Livewire staff also wants that same thing for junior high students.

Clinton’s dedication to education starts long before college as she emphasizes quality schools and early educational opportunities. Clinton thinks every child deserves a good teacher and a good school regardless of the zip code they live in. Clinton is the candidate with a proven track record of commitment to education. As a U.S. senator, she called for a national initiative to help establish high-quality pre-K programs, including providing pre-K at no cost to children from low-income homes and homes with limited English speaking.

The President of the United States should be the most respected American standing as an example of the country to not only U.S. citizens but to the entire world. Clinton can serve as this role model and at the same time stand up for the rights of all people.

Clinton obviously has very strong feelings toward women’s rights. Unlike her opponent, Donald Trump, Clinton has a lot of respect for women and intends on furthering women’s rights and putting an end to the wage gap. Clinton wants to make the work force equal for genders.

We should promote pay transparency across the economy and work to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act to give women the tools they need to fight discrimination in the workforce,” Clinton said.

Clinton is the only candidate for the student vote.  Show concern for education and fairness.  Vote Clinton.
