Darn! Patches of grass and snow cover the ground. Lack of snow has made it difficult for the ski and snowboard club which has not been able to go to Blue Knob to date.

This year the ski and snowboard club is having troubles attending their usual trips due to the lack of snow this winter season. Normally, the club would have already gone on their trips to Blue Knob. However, the grass isn’t accommodating to their snow gear.

Schedule changes must be considered every year.

“Typically, I try to get all the dates in. In January, there’s never any snow, and we normally get a big snowfall in February,” club chaperone Philip Peterman said.

But, this year differs from all previous years because for the first time in AAJHS history an additional ski and snowboard trip has been cancelled due to an in-service. The trips were originally scheduled on the four Wednesdays of January, but have been moved to Feb. 1, Feb. 8, Feb. 15, and Feb. 22 in hopes that the the weather will change in favor of the club members

So far, no members have left the group.

“They usually hang in there and if it becomes as we push it on, that people can’t go, I’ll normally give out ski passes,” Peterman said.

This is the first year since Keith Junior High and Roosevelt combined that there have been enough members to fill two buses.

However, according to recent weather report a snowfall may not come. The chaperones may have to refund the money to all students who have paid their dues if the weather persists.

“It’s never happened before, but I guess I’d have to return everyone’s money, which would be a nightmare,” Peterman said.
