Zoom! Dean Sunderland, track and field athlete, races around the Hollidaysburg course for his mile race. Sunderland participated in cross country and plans on running the 800 along with the mile for his track events. Sunderland says, “I am really looking forward to what the upcoming track season will be like.”

As the spring season starts to roll around, the track and field athletes returned in March eager to compete due to the cancellation of the season last year!

Track season ends in May and provides a great way for student-athletes to get back in shape for other sports. The coaches hope to have a full season this year. Some students underwent tough times trying to maintain their fitness levels because of losing last season. Aiden Fox said, “It’s been hard trying to exercise by myself and eat healthy too.” Since Covid-19 has affected the globe greatly, changes have been made to how track and field will be conducted.

Masks must be worn by athletes upon arrival and after they leave practice.  Coaches also make sure that athletes maintain proper social distance. The track season opens up on Monday, March 29 at Mansion Park at 3:45p.m. For more information on the track and field schedule click here.
