On Dec. 7, 2013, students from around the area gathered for Diversity Club. It was their second “meeting”. Many students were in attendance. One of the students was Madeline Hott.
“We learned about different types of religion,s and we went to different kinds of churches,” Hott said.
The group went to the Devorris center downtown to begin their day. They toured churches, learned about different religions and learned about different discriminations of religions.
Hott has only been in diversity club for one year but has already learned from it.
“I’ve learned more,”Hott said.
This diversity club has been going on for about 20 years.
“I joined diversity because I wanted to learn about different kinds of people,” Hott said.
She along with many other students have gained a better understanding of people different from themselves.
“I liked the presentations at the end,” Hott said.
Diversity club will meet again in 2014. Then towards the end of the year; they will have their field trip to Washington D.C. in the spring.
