School Clubs

• Drama Club – photo day held Wednesday, March 12 for cast of Peter Pan; fruit dumpling sale starting, pick up order forms in any of the drama advisers’ rooms

  

• Anime Club – next meeting Thursday, March 13 at 3 p.m. in room C312; members encouraged to bring any manga or anime drawings

• Student Council – eighth grade student council will not have a meeting this week

Sports

• Officer Amerine Memorial Basketball Game scheduled for April 3, 2014

• Softball – high school practice held Saturday, March 15 on the school’s turf at 10 a.m.; seventh and eighth grade practice held Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13 in the gym from 3-4:30 p.m.; uniform distribution for seventh and eighth grade team Friday, March 21 at 3 p.m. in the locker room; see Coach Mitchell in C312 or Coach Bronson in C310 for additional information

• Boys’ Basketball – clinic held Saturday, March 29 in the AAHS Fieldhouse from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; boys sixth through eleventh grade welcome; no cost to attend; instructed by Scott Columbo, Doug West, and Coach Paul Hasson, as well as high school and junior high staff

• Boys’ Volleyball – away scrimmage against Butler Saturday, March 15, time not yet announced; home 4 Schools scrimmage Tuesday, March 18 from 6-8 p.m.

• Boys’ Tennis – junior varsity only home match against Indiana Tuesday, March 18 at 3:30 p.m.

• High School Track – practice canceled Wednesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 13 due to bad weather; next practice held Friday, March 14 at 2 p.m. for distance runners and 12 p.m. for the rest of the team; practice scheduled for Saturday, March 15 held at 12 p.m. for the whole team

School Events

• Backpack Book Drive collecting new and gently used books from Monday, March 17 through Friday, March 28; the homeroom that collects the most books will win a pizza lunch

• Cabin Fever Day currently scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 13. School bans shorts, capris, tank tops, halter tops, muscle shirts and swimwear.

• Peter Pan Production opens Wednesday, Mar. 13, Thursday, Mar. 14 and Friday, Mar. 15 at 7 p.m.; tickets cost $4 for students and $8 for adults

• Box Tops collection begins; every student who brings in five Box Tops will have a chance to win Altoona Curve tickets

• No school Friday, Mar. 14 due to conferences

Music Department

• Quartet plays in the library during conferences 4:30-6:30 p.m.

• Orchestra, band, and chorus continue practicing for adjudication
