With the third marking period going, students in the elective class of Newswriting are working to edit and publish stories on the online newspaper. This is a behind the scenes look at just what goes into the newspaper and a look at the members of the newspaper. Students in the class had to previously get recommended by all their eighth grade core teachers in order to enter the class. Students needed a teacher recommendation and signed contract to be accepted into the class. The class is divided into groups that work on photography, news stories and opinion stories. The class as a whole works all week in order to put together, edit, write and publish the various stories that go online for fellow students to read and comment on. This year’s online Livewire newspaper is nominated for a gold and silver crown award from Columbia Scholastic Press Association.
