Worley sisters win big at National TSA competition

Over the summer the technology student association(TSA) attended the 37th annual National Student Association Leadership Conference and Competition in Dallas Texas. The competition is usually held  held June 28th – July 3rd at the Gaylord Texan Resort.

 Tim Dzurko and Rachel Manack are proud of their TSA students Jessica and Jennifer Worley for representing the at the competition. High School students Allan Buchness and Fiona Lynch joined jr high students Jessica and Jennifer at the competition. The girls won first place in technology problem solving second place in children’s stories and seventh place in promotional design.

 “This year the state competition will take place at the Seven Springs Ski Resort on April 13th – 16th and the National competition will take place in Nashville Tennessee June 27th – July 22nd.” Dzurko said

 Jessica and her siblings have all been in TSA club for a long time, her brother and sister still revise her work to see if she’s ready take it with her to competition.

 “The whole reason why I’m in TSA, because I love going to competitions in Tennessee and Texas,” Jessica said.

In addition to over 60 STEM competitions, the TEAMS competition, recognition and display of the Verizon Innovative App Challenge, VEX Robotics competition, Junior Solar Sprint, leadership workshops and informational special interest sessions, attendees participated in the conference kick-off, the Meet and Greet networking event, national elections, and shared new ideas and skills that can be utilized in future learning experiences. The conference celebrated the contributions of advancing technology in our society with the theme, Designing Your Dreams.

 “It was pretty successful, I mean for my first year making it all the way to the last competition, I think it’s really good, so it went really well!” Jessica said. Jessica also mentioned that she loves meeting and getting to know the kids that join club and getting the chance to go to competitions together.

 “It’s a great way to get to know everyone,” Jessica said.
