Everyone has a favorite genre of movies, they could be horror, action and adventure, romance, etc. 

Today the most popular genre is action and adventure with dramas, romance, comedies and animation  in second place.

The type of movies a person watches can reflect on who they are and there are tons that they can choose from.  The list goes on for the options of movies, in a movie store around a different corner is always a different style of movie.  Not everyone has the same style preference of their movie choices.  One could want to watch a documentary about the olympics, and another could want to watch a horror about ghosts.  

Is there ever a movie that everyone enjoys?  Not really.  Everyone will have his or her own opinion on what he or she enjoys.  Who is to say what should be watched?  If a person spent their time trying to watch all of the movie genres it would take a long time.

Movie genres can spark an interest with how friends are made.  Others can meet each other with the movies they enjoy, or become friends and have long discussion about that movie and or show.
