Music is the Greatest Thing Since…
John Mayer
Music is the greatest thing since Snapchat’s new update. This week’s greatest thing is John Mayer. He may be an older artist, but his songs are still in style. His best selling single, “Gravity”, was released in 2006 on the Continuum album.
Mayer is pretty common within my playlist. Unlike James Bay, most of his songs are about love and relationships. The songs aren’t all “lovey-dovey”; they include the truth about love.
“Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” talks about the struggle of two people being in love but it doesn’t work out. Mayer describes that there are challenges while loving someone else and that sometimes they may seem impossible to overcome.
“Say” was also featured on Continuum in 2006. It had only reached #12 on Billboard’s Top 100, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good song. Although John Mayer normally writes about love, this is different. The meaning isn’t to make the listeners catch feelings for someone else; it simply says to “say” what’s on their mind.
If you’re not a fan of John Mayer, there are other artists similar to him. Jason Mraz has the similar feeling in his songs like Mayer, but his songs are more upbeat.
