This week’s blog is about Babe Ruth. Ruth is by far the best baseball player to ever step on a baseball diamond. His real name is George Herman Ruth, Jr. but he is known as Babe. 

Ruth had  many nicknames that he went by. These include The Great Bambino, The Big Fellow and The Big Bam. He was an amazing player when he played. Ruth was born on February 6, 1895 in Pigtown, Baltimore, MD. Ruth then died on August 16, 1948 in New York City, NY.

He debuted in the MLB on July 11, 1914 and his last appearance was on May 30, 1935. Ruth was inducted to the Hall of Fame in 1936 with 95.13% of the votes (http://www.baberuth.com/). 

He was selected twice as an All-Star: in 1933 and 1934. He also has seven World Series Championships. Ruth’s number, 3, was retired by the New York Yankees in 1948. 

His best award is being on the Major League Baseball’s All Century Team.
