To Kill a Mockingbird Play opens soon

55 years ago, Harper Lee’s famous novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, was released. The book is about a family in Alabama that has to deal with the social injustice of the county. Many years later the book is still being read in ninth grade across the country.

This year, the Altoona Community Theater is putting on a production of To Kill a Mockingbird on February 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m.

The lead of the play here in Altoona, is Jessie Waters.

She plays Scout, the main character who is coming of age in the novel.
