Change in Foods

Weekly suggestions and seasonal recipes.

It’s way past the first week of March and about four months ago my mother got a surgery that changed her life and what she ate.  Now not everyone knows about this and some people might not even know what I’m talking about, but that’s okay because I’ll walk you through with what happened.

My mother decided to have gastric bypass surgery.  What happens is the surgeons cut the stomach into two portions so it can only hold up to a cup of food.  They also reroute the small intestines to reattach to the new stomach.  She was only allowed to eat liquefied foods for two weeks after surgery.  After the two weeks were up, she slowly was introduced to soft foods like pudding and mashed potatoes.  She stayed on soft foods for three weeks and then was introduced to solids.

Since she had this surgery she can not have alcoholic beverages and soda.  She also has to get a minimum of 65 grams of protein

a day, and she has to take vitamins on a daily basis.  She can’t eat junk food and eats healthy foods that are high in protein.
That was this week’s food and how it can be changed just like that.
