Highlights a student’s pet every week

This week we have a special Pets Gone Wild pet of the week.  The Livewire is highlighting a rescued pet, and her name is Maisie Belle Burke.  She is the dog of ninth grade student Katie Burke.

“We got her in 2010 on September, and we have had her for three and a half years,” Burke said. “She was approximately three when we got her.”

“My great aunt Kate (86 at the time) took one look at her and said, “She looks like a Maisie, and my sister and I added Belle,” Burke said.

A dog can be considered a pet, a companion or a best friend. To Katie, Maisie is way more than a best friend, she is family.

Maisie is a special pet to Katie and her family.  They want the best for her in all ways and especially when she needs to get washed.

“We take her to the groomer as needed,” Burke said. “She looks adorable after she is clipped.”

Maisie likes to walk everywhere and many different lengths.

“Kayley walks her daily on long walks, and my mom and I go on short walks in the woods,” Burke said.  “She loves it,”.

Maisie was a rescue and when she was rescued by the Burke family it gave Maisie new hope.  Many dogs that are rescued are actually very nice dogs.  The reason they are usually so nice is because they have been neglected and all they want is for someone to love them.  Being nice will get people to want them and take them to a happy home.

“Maisie is a very good dog,” Burke said.  “She greets us and she never barks and she is a very loving dog,”.

Maisie also did and still does some pretty funny things.

“She came home the first day we got her and she slept in my bed,” Burke said.  “She also likes to use pillows when she sleeps.”

Maisie was rescued by a family that loves her and cares for her unconditionally.  Katie Burke tells us why they rescued Maisie Belle Burke.

“My mom saw her picture on CPHS website.  We were not even looking for a dog because we already had one.  My mom fell in love when she saw her and the rest is history,” Burke said.

Katie and her family are very glad that they got her.

“She was three years old when we got her.  She came into our lives and fit right in.  She was kind to our elderly dog and is part of the family,” Burke said.
