Summer is approaching and so is baseball season. The big talk with ninth graders is the high school baseball team tryouts. Many ninth graders are trying out for the team in hopes of extending their baseball career.
“I hope to go to college and play baseball with the experience of the high school team,” ninth grader Josiah Huber said.
On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the boys who were trying out for the team had an optional hitting practice in the auxiliary gym at the high school to get ready for tryouts. The maroon side had hitting from 5:30 to 6:30 and the white side goes from 6:30 to 7:30. The boys who make the team will play for the junior varsity team.
The head coach is Tom Smith and the assistant coach is Troy Pincherri.
“I started coaching seven years ago,” Pincherri said.
The boys trying out will had another optional hitting practice on Feb. 26, before tryouts. Tryouts start on Mar. 4 and end on Mar. 8.
